The Original ObiTobi Theory

The original ObiTobi theory, also called the Tobito theory, is that Akatsuki member, Tobi, is really Obito. There is evidence for this theory, such as the items they wear on their faces. Obito's goggles and Tobi's mask share the same color, orange. Another one is the that Tobi has what looks like bolts on his arms, which would be the only way Obito could still move. The most popular evidence is the name, rearranging the letters will give you Tobi. Another is Tobi's mask which only has one eyehole, implying that Tobi has only one eye, his right, which would be the only eye Obito would have left. Tobi also has the sharingan in this eye. I believe that the greatest evidence for this theory aside from the mask and sharingan is Tobi's personality. Tobi is clumsy and goofy just like Obito was.

Problems with this Theory

There are a few problems with this theory, the biggest being how could Obito have survived if his entire right side was crushed. One major thing is that if Obito's entire right side was crushed, he would have died instantly, or at least not have been able to talk. There are also members of Akatsuki that could have saved him, like Kakuzu. The fact that Tobi is frequently seen with Akatsuki member Zetsu, from Grass country where Obito was supposed to have died, supports that idea.

Another problem with this theory is why would Obito join Akatsuki? The answer supporters would give is amnesia, which is possible seeing as being crushed by that boulder could have done something to his head.

Do I Support this Theory?

I used to but now I don't. Why? because it has been revealed that Tobi is Madara. There is way too much evidence that supports that.

The New ObiTobi Theory

The new ObiTobi theory, which I've heard some call the ObiTobiMada theory or the ObiMada theory, is that Madara's spirit is possessing Obito's body. It would explain Tobi's "split personality," where one minute he's a goofball and the next he's serious and evil. It is possible if you look at Orochimaru's jutsu. There is evidence that supports this theory. In addition to the evidence from the old ObiTobi theory, what Itachi says to Sasuke about Madara being a "shell" of his former self could mean he could have lost his Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan because he's using a new body. Tobi's Mangekyo ability is a time-space jutsu, which is similar to what Kakashi has. If each Mangekyo Sharingan user has to have a different kind then it would make sense that Tobi is really Madara using Obito's body because Kakashi's eye is Obito's eye. There's also the confrontation with the eight Konoha shinobi during their search for Sasuke. Right before he left, Even though Tobi was speaking to all of them, it seemed as if Tobi was looking directly at Kakashi, which is the moment when Kakashi sees the sharingan in the hole of the mask (volume 43 chapter 395 page 17 and page one of chapter 396).

Another and the best evidence for this theory is that when Tobi removes part of his mask, we see a face that looks much more like an adult version of Obito than Madara (volume 43 chapter 397 pages 1-3).

Problems with this Theory

The biggest problem with this theory is why would Madara choose to take over the crushed body of an Uchiha when he could have taken over the body of any of the healthy Uchiha back in Konoha? The answer I think is that he couldn't choose any other body. Maybe his host needed to be close to death or dead in order to possess a body.

Do I Support this Theory?

Yes. Why? because I don't think Madara, who'd be in his 90's if not 100's, would be able to move or fight the way he does. Yes I realize that he could use a jutsu like Tsunade does but I think that's a jutsu that only Tsunade knows.

This is My Version of the ObiTobi Theory

Remember how Obito's last thoughts were that he wanted to spend more time with Kakashi and Rin? well I think that Madara's spirit may have tricked him into thinking that he'd get that chance if Obito allowed Madara's spirit to go into his body. Obito allows him to but Madara takes Obito over completely because Obito is weak. Madara maybe then had Obito kill Rin to get the Mangekyo Sharingan. It would explain why Kakashi got it, maybe it just took longer for Kakashi's to evolve or it needed intense training to activate it. When Madara summoned the Kyuubi to attack Konoha, he used up a lot of his energy and because of that Obito gained control again. But because of the guilt that he killed so many shinobi before and during the Kyuubi attack, including Rin and his sensei, he felt he couldn't face Konoha, especially not Kakashi. So he went with Zetsu (for some reason i can't really think of). Then when Deidara blew himself up it could have triggered Madara to surface again in order to stay alive. Now Madara is too strong for Obito to overcome. In the end I think the threat of Madara Killing Kakashi will give Obito the power to take control again.

The ObiDanzo/TobiDanzo Theories

This is a new theory I've been seeing going around along with TobiDanzo since the newest Naruto chapter, Chapter 455, came out. Both theories revolve around the new Sixth Hokage being one of these well known shinobi. In ObiDanzo, some are saying that because Danzo has the Sharingan on his right side and a damaged right arm he could be Obito. In the TobiDanzo theory, Akatsuki member (leader?) Tobi, is actually Danzo because of the lines we see in Chapter 397 when Tobi removes his mask halfway. The hair at some times is also similar. Also, the fact that his right arm is damaged could also link him to Tobi because of Sasuke's Amaterasu burned Tobi's right arm.

Problems with these Theories

First off, as of Naruto chapter 459 the Sharingan that Danzo has belonged to Shisui Uchiha, NOT Obito. With the ObiDanzo theory, Danzo was one of those trying to be the Third Hokage and constantly clashed with Sarutobi's beliefs in being peaceful (or as peaceful as a Ninja Village came be at least), where as Danzo wanted to start wars. Because Danzo was there during the selection of the Sandaime, it is just impossible for Danzo to be Obito as Obito had most likely not even been born yet. Also, Danzo has a left eye, the eye that Obito would be missing as Kakashi now has it. And finally, it appears that Danzo has to cover his right eye. This could be because he is hiding it, but I think it's more that, like Kakashi, he can't deactivate it.

As for the TobiDanzo theory, why would Tobi send Sasuke to kill the elders and specifically point out Danzo if he actually IS Danzo? Also, why would Danzo be obsessed with killing Sasuke if Tobi wants him alive? The two characters contradict each other way too much it you think about it.

Do I Support These Theories?

No, for ObiDanzo. The ages just do not add up, some argue that Orochimaru could have experimented on him and changed his age, but keep in mind that Danzo was somewhat in the running for Sandaime. Plus, why would he order the massacre of the Uchiha Clan? With the TobiDanzo theory, though it is more likely than ObiDanzo, the contradictions where Sasuke and Konoha are concerned are just too different.
